54th Annual Anomalous Absorption Conference (AAC2026)
On behalf of the Anomalous Absorption Conference Board of Directors, we’re excited to welcome you to The Lodge at Whitefish Lake in beautiful Whitefish, Montana!

This year’s conference will follow our familiar format, with oral presentations held in the mornings and afternoons open for informal discussions and recreational activities. Evening plenary and poster sessions will take place on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, with Wednesday evening reserved for our conference banquet.
We will kick things off with a welcome reception on Sunday at 6:00 p.m., so be sure to plan your travel to join us for this relaxed and social start to the week.

Please submit abstracts before March 10 via email as a PDF attachment to AAC2026@AnomalousAbsorption.org. Indicate in your email whether you are requesting an oral or poster presentation.

The abstract must include a title, author list, and their affiliations.
Maximum dimensions: 6.5 inches (width) × 9.0 inches (length).
Font: 12-point Times New Roman.
Submit the abstract as a PDF file, regardless of which template you use.

The Lodge at Whitefish Lake in Whitefish, Montana, will host the 54th Anomalous Absorption Conference (AAC 2026). Viking Lodge Rooms – $189/night
Located just across the street from the Main Lodge and connected by a covered sky bridge, the Viking Lodge offers comfortable, well-appointed guest rooms in a peaceful setting. Guests enjoy full access to all resort amenities, including pools, the spa, and the lakefront.
Main Lodge Studio Suites – $259/night
Situated in the heart of the resort, the Main Lodge features larger studio-style suites with upscale finishes and convenient access to meeting rooms, restaurants, and the lakefront terrace. Many suites include fireplaces, private balconies, and scenic lake or marina views.

Reservation Details
- A limited number of rooms at the conference group rate are available May 9–17, 2026.
- To receive the contracted rate, please use the official conference lodging link or contact the Lodge directly.
- Rooms remaining in the block will be released after April 10, 2026; reservations made after this date are subject to standard rates and availability.

Nearest Airport / Main Entry Point
The closest airport is Glacier Park International Airport (FCA / Kalispell, MT) — about 9–12 miles / ~20 minutes from the Lodge.
The Lodge itself is located at 1380 Wisconsin Ave, Whitefish, MT 59937
Driving Directions from Glacier Park International Airport (FCA)
One commonly recommended route is:
- Exit the airport and follow signs to US-2 East
- After ~4.5 miles, turn left onto MT-40 W
- Drive ~4.5 miles, then turn right onto US-93 N
- Continue ~2 miles; turn left onto US-93 N / E 2nd Street
- Take a right onto Baker Avenue, which becomes Wisconsin Avenue over the railroad tracks & leads toward the lakefront area
- Continue onto East Lakeshore Drive, then turn right onto Big Mountain Road
- For lodging check-in, pass the turnoff for the base / lifts and continue toward the upper village area (you’ll cross under the skier bridge etc.).
If you pass under the skier bridge before turning onto Glades Drive, you’ve gone too far.
Shuttle / Transfer Options
- The Lodge offers airport & Amtrak transfers (shuttle service) for arrivals & departures between 7am and 10pm, by prior arrangement.
- You must contact the Lodge (e.g., 406-863-4000) or email with your flight details at least 3 days in advance to reserve the transfer. lodgeatwhitefishlake.com
- There are also local shuttle services (e.g. Whitefish Shuttle) that operate between the airport and downtown Whitefish / resort areas. Whitefish Shuttle
- The Lodge also provides downtown shuttle service (to/from their sister property “The Firebrand”) and ski shuttles in winter, plus access to the free S.N.O.W. bus in seasonal periods.

- Primary Route: U.S. Highway 2 west to U.S. Highway 93 north into Whitefish
This route passes near Columbia Falls and the Logan Health Whitefish medical center before reaching the lakefront area of the Lodge.
Registration
NOTE: If you plan to purchase guest meal or banquet tickets, it will be convenient to save your payment information when completing registration. Payment information is not stored on our servers and is securely handled via Stripe and Link, our third-party payment processors. Credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other major payment methods are accepted.
Attendees
Early registration will be available from before or on April 3, 2026.
Standard Registration: Before April 4 – $1000.00; On or after April 4 – $1,200.00
Student Registration: Before April 4 – $500.00; On or after April 4 – $1,000.00
Students seeking financial assistance to attend the conference should have their institutional sponsor send a “letter of need” to AAC2026@AnomalousAbsorption.org.
Registration Includes
The registration fee provides access to:
- All conference sessions
- A printed conference agenda and electronic abstract book
- Catered lunches Monday through Thursday
- The Sunday evening reception and Wednesday evening banquet
- Boxed lunch on Friday
Evenings not designated for conference dinners are open for attendees to enjoy local dining options in downtown Whitefish or at the resort’s lakeside restaurants, offering a chance to relax and connect with colleagues in a casual setting.
Guests
Additional meal tickets can be purchased in advance for attendee guests. Breakfast is not be included in this year’s conference.
Adult: Lunch - $60.00
Children (8-17): Lunch - $30.00
Children (under 8): free
There also will be a limited number of seats available for guests at the Conference banquet. Conference banquet tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis at a rate of $110.00 for adults and $30 for kids 8-12 before April 3rd. We expect these extra seats to go fast, so please purchase any extra banquet tickets you will need early so you will not be disappointed.
